Kidney & Bladder Dysfunction

Leafy Greens & Diabetes

β-caryophyllene is a terpene present in cannabis as well as many dark green, leafy vegetables.

Cannabis & Incontinence

Because bladder control falls mostly to the central nervous system, it’s no surprise that cannabis may present novel and effective treatment options. We know that cannabinoid receptors are profusely expressed in both the central nervous system and peripheral nervous system. And we also know that these receptors are activated by endogenous compounds as well as components of the cannabis plant. Thanks to ongoing research on cannabis and MS, quite a bit of useful data about incontinence has been collected, both in preclinical studies and a few small clinical trials.

THC & Chronic Kidney Disease

The kidneys are a workhorse of the body, filtering nutrients from toxins. Oily cannabinoids like THC and CBD slip out of the kidneys’ filtration system, but they stop to interact with cannabinoid receptors that regulate kidney function. Researchers in British Columbia review information about cannabis use in patients with chronic kidney disease (CKD).

Kidney & Bladder Issues

Kidney disease happens when your kidneys can’t clean blood the way they should. Symptoms include reduced urine output, swelling of the legs, ankles and feet, shortness of breath, drowsiness or fatigue, nausea, confusion, and chest pain or pressure.

Diabetes

Diabetes is a condition in which your body does not properly process sugar. It can cause nerve damage, eye problems, heart disease or stroke. Symptoms include fatigue, blurred vision, feelings of thirst, slow healing of cuts or bruises, and tingling, pain or numbness in hands and feet (neuropathy).
