What Is Osteoporosis?

Osteoporosis is a disease in which the density and quality of bone are reduced. As bones become more porous and fragile, your risk of fracture is greatly increased. Loss of bone density occurs silently and progressively. Symptoms include increase frequency of bone fractures, back pain, loss of height, and stopped posture. About 200 million people worldwide have osteoporosis. Approximately 30% of all postmenopausal women in the US have it.
