What Is Obsessive Compulsive Disorder?

OCD, or Obsessive Compulsive Disorder, is an anxiety disorder marked by recurring, unwanted thoughts, ideas or sensations (obsessions) that drive one to engage in repetitive behaviors or compulsions. Repetitive OCD behaviors like hand washing, checking on things, or cleaning can significantly interfere with your daily activities and social interactions. About 1 in 100 children and 1 in 40 adults have OCD.
