What Are Autoimmune Diseases?
Autoimmune diseases are diseases in which your body’s defense system triggers an abnormal inflammatory response that causes damage to the body’s own tissues. Many conditions fall into this category, including multiple sclerosis, Crohn’s disease, lupus, and celiac disease. Symptoms may include fatigue, pain, swelling, fever, nausea, numbness, rashes, or hair loss. About 20% of the populations suffers from some sort of autoimmune disease, the majority of whom are female.
