What Is Anorexia?
Anorexia refers to self-starvation due to a preoccupation with one’s body image. It is characterized by extreme weight loss, and can occur from extremely restrictive eating, or binge-purge behavior. Colloquially, anorexia is a term sometimes used to describe a severe lack or loss of appetite. Anorexia effects less than 2% of the populations, and is much more common among women.
