What Is ALS?

ALS, also known as amyotrophic lateral sclerosis or Lou Gehrig’s Disease, is a disease affecting your motor neurons of the spinal cord, which causes progressive weakness and atrophy of muscles. About 450,000 people worldwide have ALS, and about 30,000 people in the US.
